Marshall’s eagerly anticipated aquatic center is progressing steadily, with construction remaining on schedule for a mid-summer opening. Mayor Bob Byrnes highlighted the contractors’ dedication, noting their ability to maintain timelines despite winter conditions. The facility’s interior work, including carpentry, flooring, and mechanical systems, is nearing completion, while outdoor features are also taking shape.
In addition to the aquatic center, the city is undertaking several infrastructure projects. The City Council recently approved nearly $800,000 for utility improvements, including lead service line replacements and materials for the Route 1/CSX utility project. These investments aim to enhance the city’s infrastructure and ensure the safety and reliability of essential services.
Furthermore, the council has authorized bids for demolishing the old aquatic center, encompassing pool basin removal and site restoration. Updates on capital improvement projects, such as the College Drive and South Fifth Reconstruction, have been provided, including traffic detour plans to minimize disruptions during construction.
