New Aquatic Center Developments
In a recent session, the council approved the purchase of concession equipment totaling approximately $60,376 for the new Marshall Aquatic Center. This initiative includes a partnership with Performance Food Service as a vendor and sponsor. Additionally, plans are underway to demolish the old aquatic center, with the council authorizing the solicitation of bids for the project’s completion, which encompasses pool basin removal and site restoration.
Infrastructure and Accessibility Enhancements
The council has also been focusing on infrastructure improvements. Updates were provided on capital projects such as the College Drive and South Fifth Reconstruction, including traffic detour plans to minimize disruptions. Furthermore, Marshall has been approved for a state grant exceeding $9,000 aimed at improving accessibility at the Red Baron Arena and Expo, which serves as a polling place for Ward 1. The grant will fund sidewalk repairs and the installation of accessible doors, ensuring better access for individuals with disabilities.
